Plastic-Free Deliveries

To us, it doesn't make any sense to deliver renewable and plastic free products wrapped in plastic.

We’re so proud of our recycled, recyclable and bio-based packaging that we use it for our own orders. It allows us to fully test products before we launch, and also keep a close eye on quality. Using our packaging in a real warehouse environment helps us continually improve designs to help maximise efficiency.

Your order may be packaged using recyclable, reused, recycled, or misprinted materials as part of our commitment to reducing waste. We do not introduce conventional plastic into our packaging process.

If you receive items in a clear protective bag, this will be made from fully compostable material rather than single-use plastic. In addition, these compostable bags are not newly produced for shipping, but are production surplus generated during our manufacturing runs that cannot be sold at retail quality. Rather than discarding these materials, we repurpose them to protect products from rain and moisture during transit, particularly in wetter winter months when parcels are more likely to be exposed to the elements. This helps prevent avoidable product damage and reduces overall material waste.

In some instances, some of our suppliers may use plastic as protective packaging for fragile goods or strapping for transport. Rather than immediately discarding this material and creating additional waste, we allow it to remain in place so it can fulfil its protective purpose. We could just throw away this plastic and pretend it never existed, but we choose to be transparent about this reality and are continuously working with our suppliers to reduce plastic use across our supply chain.

We encourage customers to reuse, compost, or recycle packaging materials appropriately and provide guidance on responsible disposal on our website. Our goal is to make practical, honest decisions that minimise environmental impact while ensuring your order arrives safely and in usable condition.

We also dispatch orders in re-used and second hand cartons with largely recycled packaging materials from our supplier deliveries, and from a number of other businesses based in our Mill. Naturally much of the this packaging can be re-used, recycled or composted - please recycle it when possible (after all that's the raw material for your next order).

Dispatch of pallets is the one area we still have to use plastic wrap. This is used to avoid any water damage during transit, especially for our compostable packaging. We have run trials of using cellulose film on pallets but more work is needed to make this a viable large scale option. So far we have not found an eco alternative to pallet shrink wrap on the market, so we are moving away from using palletised deliveries where possible, sending pallets only around once per month or less.
